Thursday is Thirst Day

Get it? It's a play on words. Let's see what the Internets have to offer today.

Picture above from Abhay Khosla's Bram Stoker's Dracula, of which you can now also read chapter two and chapter three. It's a strange coincidence that he started a new comic just as soon as I finally got around to reading his last one. Could it be that he is secretly monitoring my reading habits? Probably, yes.

Speaking of reading comics online on these here Internets, yesterday I also finally read Inio Asano's Nijigahara Holograph, a fairly awesome manga about... about a lot of stuff, really. I don't know how to describe it. Wait, I do: It's 292 pages long.

My erstwhile SUPERBLOG!! partner Uncle Sammy very rarely clicks on links because he is an enemy of the Internets, but he'll click on this one: Conservapedia! Yes, it's Wikipedia for rightwing nutjobs. Beyond bizarre.

Superboy says ‘Know Your Country!’ Kids hate Scandinavian Sigrid because she eats kottbuller! (It's köttbullar, idiots!)

YouTube: Cartoon All-Stars To The Rescue Part One - animated drug prevention television special introduced by George Bush Sr. (There's some further info on Wikipedia but sadly not on Conservapedia.)

Just sad: I love you, failed viral marketing campaign for Beth Cooper!

Michael Jackson Public Domain Countdown (also): Only 70 years and 141 days to go! Obviously copyright laws are completely sane and don't need to be reformed at all.

Currently Reading #12: "In Such a Small Wastebasket"

Part 2. Also watching the film adaptations, but unfortunately they're pretty disappointing so far.

Currently Reading #1: "What Dreadful Weather We're Having Today"

I'm a cultured motherfucker. Not only do I watch a shitload of movies every week, but I also read a lot. Since reading words is hard work I especially like books in which pictures tell the story. I like to call them comic books. And I think from now on I should sometimes post a pic from the comical booklet I'm currently reading, under the heading Currently Reading and then a title which won't be the title of the actual work but just something I feel like writing. Maybe and probably I won't even tell you the actual title, so if you don't recognize it you'll have to do some research (try the Internet!) or ask someone (not me) what it is. It's the laziest form of blogging, and it rules!

Everybody Loves Carrots

Disturbing 14-page manga on how Toby learned to stop worring and love carrots.

"Her Boyfriend's Cock Must Look Like A Lego Piece..."

Once again, as so too often, I am away on a stupid trip for many many days to do something stupid and get paid* for it. This time, I am supposed to learn about OWLS**. And I'm sitting here in my stupid hotel room and suddenly it comes to me that maybe, probably, a large part of SUPERBLOG!!'s audience has never experienced the glory that is "oral cavity infectious syndrome", a 16-page comic (the kids call them "manga") by Kasutoru Shiki. And I realize I have an obligation, a duty, a holy mission to link to it. And not just once but twice. Warning! The Japanese read right to left (weirdos!). Warning! May contain bad words and cock situations.

*Peanuts. They will bury me in a poor man's grave.
**Kidding! No owl learning happening. I learn to lead people.

My Summer, Part 3: Comics & Beer

SUPERBLOG!! Link of the Day: Manga-esque Simpsons

Summer continues:

Day 10: Read 52 Vol 1. It was decent.
Day 11: Went with my Dad to the mall, bought 3 DVDs. Hooray! Read Punisher Max: The Slavers. Full review may be forthcoming.
Day 12: Watched The Queen, read Punisher Max: Barracuda. Both good.
Day 13: Spent half an hour waiting in line on the phone with my parents' ISP. Finished Showcase Presents Superman Vol 3 (I'm really on a nostalgic superhero binge here). Shaved. Went drinking and shooting the shit with Rudolf. (Level of intoxication: 2.6)
Day 14: Finished Savage Dragon Archives Volume 3 which reads exactly like it was written and drawn by a teenage boy (though in a fairly good way). Listened to the Beach Boys. Had a few beers with my pal Xerxes. (Level of intoxication: 1.6)
Day 15 (yesterday): Went to the foot guy and received a clean bill of foot health. Went to the country. Went drinking with Sammy & Rudolf the Designated Driver. Mocked the latter mercilessly, for reasons previously indicated on SUPERBLOG!! (Level of intoxication: 3.9)

And SO... life stumbles on.
