You're Wrong!

SUPERBLOG!! will never die.

It may stumble and fall and suck and blow. It may be an occasional embarrassment. By which I mean a constant embarrassment. It may be an outdated experiment. It may be a Nothing blog, Rarely Updated, Ignored By Its Former Fans and Even Its Creators. It may continually make promises of radical changes that never happen.

But it is the Alpha and the Omega. It is the Light-Bringer. It is the Christ. It's your father and mother and brother and lover. But better than all of them, because it will be with you always, even to the End of Tim. And the End of Time.

SUPERBLOG!! was here before you were born, and it will be here long after you are all dead dead dead

If I'm lying, may the Lord punish me by striking me with a bad case of hubris.

There's a Storm Coming!

Just ask Sarah Connor:

Or Donnie Darko:

Or Harry Potter:

Or even Batman! (maybe):

The storm is a metaphor, see?

Mo' Moz Bats

Hey! The same day I read the conclusions to Moz*/Quitely's ASS** and Moz' Bats*** come the first images from Moz/Quitely's followup: Batman & Robin (presumably named after the awesome motion picture). That's synergy or synchronization or whatever. Supposedly Quitely's just on for 3 issues, though, and then maybe 3 more in a year or so. Why am I telling you this?

*Morrison, as in Grant
**It's an abbreviation.

What Don't You Fucking Understand?

I'm gonna fucking kick your fucking ass. If you don't listen to Bale Out - RevoLucian's Christian Bale Remix:

(Link via the A. V. Club:

"You think this is some kind of a fucking joke?" Bale continued, punching a nearby plastic terminator robot so hard that the velcro attaching the plastic "ammo" to the hip of his futuristic GI Joe outfit fell to the ground with a sad click. "Like we're all just dressing up for Halloween? What don't you fucking understand? That's McG over there. Mc fucking G! I have to pretend that there's been a nuclear holocaust, and the world has been taken over by bad robots, and that this whole stupid thing is real! Fuck!"

). Think for one fucking second! Download the mp3. Hurry because this will only be funny for about ten minutes more!

(Note: McG is not, and has seldom been, the same as P McG.)

Batman Forever!

If SUPERBLOG!! hadn't been a super-fan of Christian Bale before, it would be one now:

Have you heard the scorching on-the-set rant by Christian Bale, who was clearly furious at Shane Hurlbut, the director of photography for "Terminator Salvation"?
[...]
You can hear it right here but, please, don't go there if you are offended by coarse language or if you are a big fan of Bale and don't want your affections shaken.

Fucking Batgirl

This is pretty funny:

The reason behind [Frank Miller & Jim Lee's] All-Star Batman & Robin the Boy Wonder’s recall revealed! The censor bars didn’t print properly a whole bunch of times! Cusswords are visible!
[...]
One has to wonder why they’d bother typing out the offending words in the first place, as it runs the risk of exactly this sort of thing happening with no apparent benefit.

Update: At the risk of spoiling part of the joke, I think I can answer that last question: The reason is that the censor bars aren't really supposed to obscure the profanity entirely. Since most readers of the book are likely adults, they're meant to be able to figure out exactly what the words are, by looking at the visible parts of the letters. DC Comics just don't have the balls to print the words legibly. (It's similar to how bad language on South Park is only partially bleeped. You can still make out the words, you just can't hear them clearly.)

Friday Update: Los Angeles Times interviews Frank Miller about the debacle.

Gilliam Fucked

Poor Terry Gilliam. I just realized the Death of Heath (that rhymes!) means the Gilliam curse is in full effect:

The future of Terry Gilliam’s “The Imaginarium of Doctor Parnassus” has been thrown into question following the sudden death of its star Heath Ledger.
[...]
Ledger’s involvement in the project was a key factor in raising the finance. He had a strong relationship with Gilliam from their last pic together, “Brothers Grimm.”

In November 2000, Gilliam was forced to abandon his $32 million indie project “The Man Who Killed Don Quixote” after just a week of shooting, when his star Jean Rochefort was too ill to continue.
Yeah.

RIP Joker

Yesterday the laughter died. As Heath Ledger AKA the Joker passed away. On the very same day as Anabaptist leader Bernhard Knipperdolling (1495-1536). How ironic. How sad.

Why So Serious?

A lot of people complain that SUPERBLOG!! has gotten too serious lately. They say that SUPERBLOG!! used to be about people getting drunk or getting laid or just generally having a good time. And now it's mostly cancer and AIDS and OMFG i'm so sad ! my life is a lie. Stupid and ugly as those people may be, they do have a point. Thus and therefore, I'd like to announce that January 1st, 2008, will mark a long overdue return to FUN for SUPERBLOG!!. Yes, no more gloom. No more heartache. No more posts written while hung over and depressed. Only smiles. Only laughter.

Only Fun.

"You'll Swallow This Radium - It Will Burn Holes in Your Stomach. Ha! Ho! Ha!"

I dedicate this comical booklet I just drew to my colleague Dr Uncle Sammy: Wonder Woman vs Dr Psycho. It is to aid him in his job-hunting efforts. p.s. Did u kno Sammy's worst enemy is himself? That's true of everybody though.

More comics:

Batman, Master of Timing!

Nobody expects Batman to show up in a one-man 'copter!

Jimmy Olsen Becomes As Popular as Ringo!

Possibly the most important website in the world: Nad Shot Dot Com! It is comics with nad shots. Important.

Batman by Dostoyevsky

Go read "Dostoyevsky Comics" by comics mimic R Sikoryak. It's an adaptation of Crime and Punishment, drawn in the style of '50s Batman artist Dick Sprang.

Yeah But No But Yeah But No.

If you are the kind of person who loves or hates or doesn't give a shit about Garfield, you need to read this blog post from Flog and click each and every link. It will expand your mind and torso. (The above strip was plucked from Farfield.)

But wait! There's more:

SUPERBLOG!! Scientific Discovery of the Day: Finally we can dump this stupid planet.

The Guy Who *Should* Have Been the Democratic Presidential Candidate in 2004

Yes: the Joker.

Hey, with a platform like that, I think he would have had a good chance of defeating Dubya. Kerry's "Vote for me and I'll be nice and sensible" strategy obviously was a misfire. The only problem is, considering the Joker's a murderous madman, surely he's more likely to run for the GOP?

Just kidding!

(But not really.)

(Just kidding!!)
