Famous Swedes #3: Svullo

This is Svullo. See how he looks both sad and happy and everything. He committed suicide a while ago and now I'm honouring his memory by watching a DVD named something like "Dubois - More than Svullo". His greatest moment came with the hit single "För fet för ett fuck". Had it been an international hit they WOULD have called it "Too fat for a fuck". I might have seen him perform in the 80s but my memories from that era ARE somewhat blurred.

This Almost Happened To Me Once

Sorry, I don't have time to write about what I said I'd write about today yesterday. Is that an intelligible sentence? Sorry, I don't have time to make sure. Nor do I have time to tell you the interesting story of how this cover relates to my life. Sorry. But! I'll be back tomorrow (though maybe just with more excuses).

Image ripped off from teh Internet.

2007: The Year of Watching DVDs, Part III

Yeah, I know SUPERBLOG!! has been really slacking off lately (I mean, really) and I'll address that, and what you can do to help, tomorrow.

Anyway. Continuing where we left off last week:

  • The Manchurian Candidate (1962): Pretty good. Here's a thought: Has Janet Leigh ever played anything other than a deranged slut?
  • The Treasure of the Sierra Madre: Okay.
  • Toy Story: Okay.
  • Monsters, Inc.: Cute and fun.
  • The Gold Rush (1925): I watched it with the annoying 1942 narration but otherwise it's fine.
  • Finding Nemo: I hate anthropomorphism and I hate undersea adventures but I have to admit it was nicely done.
  • Wallace & Gromit in The Curse of the Were-Rabbit: Amusing.
  • City Lights: Really spoke to me.
  • Midnight Cowboy (repeat): Goodish. Slight story.
  • The Great Dictator: Ballsy.
  • Metropolis (1927): Impressive.
  • Nausicaä of the Valley of the Wind (repeat): Better this time. Inferior to the manga, but for what it is, it's Good.
  • Pirates of the Caribbean: The Curse of the Black Pearl: Okay. Too many explosions and shit.
  • The Princess Bride: Weird, but not as weird as its presence on the 250 list.
  • Cape Fear (1991): Exciting.
  • Cool Hand Luke: Good.
  • Oldboy: Impressive-looking and captivating. Also seriously confused and ridiculous.
  • Pirates of the Caribbean: Dead Man's Chest: I liked it, except for the fucking cliffhanger ending. I hate it when the second movie in a series turns out to be just a setup for the third. (See also: Back to the Future, The Matrix.)

Twofifty update: 149.

Total Michael Keaton grade: 53 out of 90, giving us an average of 2.94. Hmm. That's not good. Better luck next week.
